Neverwinter Nights 2 Expansion!
Atari announces Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer.[link]
Finally, the adventure continues. This time, I really hope that the quality of the game will go up. I really enjoyed NWN2 despite its technical issues, and now I think the community will be in for a real treat.
Things to watch out for:
Set in harsh, spirit-rich Rashemen, near the powerful nation of Thay, Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer will present players with an exciting new campaign; epic levels; dozens of new feats and spells; new races, base classes and prestige classes; new companions; new weapons, armor and crafting options; hordes of new monsters; and enhanced modding tools.
Oh, this is definitely going to be fun. I’m glad that we’re leaving the Sword Coast of Faerun, and we’ll finally get more interaction with Thay.

Think they’ll still bring in cameos from Forgotten Realms characters?

In NWN1 you actually get to fight some of the major Forgotten Realms villains (Klauth the red dragon, Halaster Blackcloak). I don’t know about Drizzt, though. People are kinda sick of him already. ^_^;

Yeah, no more Drizzt. IIRC, the AD&D PC games like Cursed of the Azure Bonds, Hillsfar, EotB (Eye of the Beholder), we met and fought canon FR characters. I remember creating a hex-edited saved game just to kill some of them.

This is primarily the reason why I’d rather play Eberron now in pen-and-paper D&D. The famous NPCs aren’t epic-level powerhouses who have no purpose in the game other than to look cool. The entire world just seems to be far more cohesive as a whole when compared to Forgotten Realms.
