Which Superhero Are You?
Strange, this was unexpected. It’s good to see that Batman is second place, because I often feel dark and brooding like him.
You are Superman
|You are mild-mannered, good,
strong and you love to help others.
I really wish that I could do something drastic to change this country, though. The Election RSS feed in my sidebar is still ticking, and the more it ticks, the more it ticks me off. People are murdered in such brutal fashion, schools are burned down, teachers are abducted and killed–it sickens me. There are times that I feel the perpetrators of these vile acts should be cut open (while still alive) and hung from the trees along Roxas Boulevard by their intestines and left to be picked to death by the birds and thrown into a garbage dump like the subhuman offal that they are. Just as they do not value the lives of others, neither should their lives be cherished. But of course, that won’t happen.
These wicked men will still grow fat on the plunder they take from the nation. They will still continue to tell their lies, continue to slaughter their enemies, continue to make a mockery out of this country. It seems that although this country is a democracy on paper, no matter how angry we get we’ll never be able to remove them. For a democracy, the people seem pretty powerless.
I really had my hopes up that this election would be the beginning of a brand new Philippines (due to celebrities losing), but apparently, we’re back to the same old grind of idiocy and self-imposed tyranny. Add to that some murder in the streets and school arsony. What a wretched race of fools we are.
Of course, Martin’s excellent article[link] on hope and despair makes me feel a little better. What can we do? What do we ought to do? What must we do? What will we do?
I think the change is more than just something external. There will always be evil people in the world, but those who at least care about others should make a stand. It takes a few who hope, a few who still have faith in the God who this nation claims to worship, a few who can see into the hearts of others that there is still something that can be done. The change has to begin within. The system will always be twisted by those of twisted conscience. Changing the system is not enough. We have to change.
